James Adam BSc, MSc, DC

CHIROPRACTOR

James graduated as a chiropractor from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in 2016; he then worked in Liverpool and the Wirral in private practice and for the medical team of Caldy rugby union team for 3 seasons - helping the team to become champions of National 2 and then maintain their National 1 status; the team are now performing well in the Championship.

James moved back to Guernsey after travelling around South America for 6 months and worked for CMC Wellbeing for the past 6 years where he has done approx 12,000 treatments. At the end of 2024 both he and Karen started Upgrade Chiropractic citing the opportunity to work within a state-of-the-art gym as a life goal.

He has trained to use instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation (IASTM) and spinal manipulation but has an interest in exercise-based rehabilitation. From his time in sport, he particularly enjoys treating athletes and sports injuries; however he is happy to treat anyone from childhood to elderly.

James is a keen runner, cyclist and gym-goer; has just completed qualifications in running gait assessments with gait analysis now being offered at Upgrade as of 2025.

Karen Jacobsen BSc, DC

CHIROPRACTOR

Karen began her training at medical school in Denmark, completing her studies at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, from where she graduated in 1992.

In 1993 Karen founded a Chiropractic Clinic in the Midlands, it quickly grew into a large, multi-disciplinary clinic recognised for outstanding patient care. In 2016 a relocation to Guernsey required her to sell her thriving practice. She has completed a post-graduate diploma in Clinical Chiropractic.

Karen is particularly interested in the treatment of chronic low back pain, headache, neck and shoulder problems and the treatment of the elderly.

To care for her patients, she uses a variety of techniques including specific spinal manipulation, soft-tissue work, sacro-occipital technique and low intensity laser therapy.

Dylan Walsh BSc,MSc

PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Dylan is a highly skilled physiotherapist with a passion for helping athletes reach their peak performance. With extensive experience in both the NHS and private practice in London, he has worked across specialist centres, including major trauma, respiratory, and orthopaedics. In the private sector, he honed his expertise at Opus Biological, working under Dr. David Porter and Professor David Collins, specialising in sports rehabilitation for elite athletes.

As an endurance athlete himself, competing in ultramarathons and triathlons, he understands the unique demands athletes face. He has worked with the Welsh Triathlon Team and British Athletics as a sports rehabilitator and strength & conditioning coach.

He has recently relocated to Guernsey and his services include injury management, post-operative rehabilitation, running analysis and individualised strength & conditioning programming. Whether you're recovering from an injury, preparing for surgery, or looking to enhance your athletic performance; Dylan is ready to help you achieve your goals.

Cameron Chalmers FdSc

SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPIST + PT

Cameron is an experienced professional athlete who has competed globally, including the Olympic Games, representing Great Britain and Guernsey.

He will be offering sports massage to anyone but has a focus on runners and HYROX athletes. He is a personal trainer with a focus on performance and strength training, he specialises in optimising training programs to enhance goal driven results and recovery.

His philosophy is that with the right approach and mindset any goal can be transformed into reality. Qualifications include L2 gym instruction, L3 personal trainer, L3 Sports massage therapist and Sports performance FdSc.
